Hey Kristy,
White oil should get bugs to leave it alone and is very easy to make, but you can’t apply it on days where it will be hotter than about 27-28 degrees, and its *heaps* hotter than that here atm. Next cool change, try this:
- Get a plastic drink bottle (500ml or so)
- Pour vegetable oil into it so its a couple of centimeters of vegetable oil, squirt a little bit of detergent into it and then fill it to the top with water. Shake up and make it go white.
- Spray over your plant
You can also try chili spray, though I’m not convinced that works – tasting chili as something hot and unpalatable when strong seems to be a human condition (or at least many domestic animals can’t taste it). Or you can pick up some organic Eco-Oil or Pest Oil at Bunnings.
Watch the temperature though.
1654, from Latin, lit. "under the rose," which was regarded as a symbol of secrecy.
The origin traces to a famous story in which Cupid gave Harpocrates, the god of silence, a rose to bribe him not to betray the confidence of Venus. Hence the ceilings of Roman banquet-rooms were decorated with roses to remind guests that what was spoken sub vino (under the influence of wine) was also sub rosa.
Hey Karly, love your website!
We are worried about our new little lemon tree. It is valianty trying to grow new leaves, but every time it does, something comes along and eats them.
What do you think is the culprit? How do we protect against it?
Kristy and Kevin
